After the efficient running of our AGM by returning officer Peter Wood we settled down to the Magical entertainment which tonight consisted of three short lecture/workshops.
First workshop was Peter Rodgers who had become disillusioned by recent performances of that modern classic “How to Find Your Other Half” aka “Love Ritual” Many performers of this effect seem to have worked out the actual physical handling of the cards but they don’t understand what makes it seem so impossible or the great effect that it is. They have obviously never read or understand either the original Woody Aragon’s instructions in “A Book in English” (2011) or his more recent lectures. Peter demonstrated the effect and recommended everyone interested to track down the book or to download Woody’s lecture.
Jack Sharp demonstrated and taught a comedy 4 Ace production followed by the actual cutting to the aces, then the kings from a shuffled pack. He then taught a simple coin Matrix, or more correctly a Chink-A-Chink Routine.
Peter Wood taught 3 rubber band effects including what is now generally called Crazy Man’s Handcuffs, a linking rubber effect and a method to apparently break and restore a rubber band.
Otto Patterson then performed and taught a simple poker deal from a stacked pack after it was cut multiple times.
Our final lecture was by Sean Taylor who demonstrated his favourite “Card to Impossible Location routines” Included were card to wallet, the Kennedy Box, Joao Miranda Vision Box and Sean’s current favourite Jon Allen’s Destination Box.
